Visit to INPA, LBA and the flux tower

Posted by Asa on 21 October 2009

During our stay in Manaus we took the chance to visit INPA (National Institute for Research in the Amazon) and LBA (Large Scale  Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia). We had the great opportunity to meet and interview the director of INPA Dr. Adalberto Val and the second most cited scientist in the field of climate change Dr. Philp Fearnside.

See you later, Colombia

Posted by Javier on 13 October 2009

Colombia has been an absolute hit in this trip, I am sure I will keep the same opinion when arriving in Ushuaia. Sadly we planned a short route of barely more than 2 weeks, but the country deserves a long-lenth exclusive cycle trip.

Hasta pronto, Colombia

Posted by Javier on 13 October 2009

Posted by Asa on 30 August 2009

San Fernando de Apure  2009-08-22

After exactly four weeks pedaling we have left the Andes behind us for a while and even crossed a big part of Los Llanos, the big wet lowlands with the many rivers that is covering about a third of the country. (Venezuela is more then twice as big as Sweden).

We have arrived in Venezuela!

Posted by Asa on 12 August 2009

Hello everybody! First of all I want to say thank you to everyone following and commenting on my blog, it is really inspiring and encouraging to read your comments. It is you, the fantastic views and the cheerful Colombians blowing their horns and giving us thumbs up that keep me going in the long winding climbs in the Colombian Andes with my 35 kilos heavy loaded bicycle. (Up to now we have ascended in total 10 400m, that’s already more then climbing the Everest).

Cycling trip started!

Posted by Asa on 29 July 2009

Dear family, friends, known and unknown,

After ten hours in the air, with feet like elephants due to the lack of circulation finally we viewed the Promised Land, descending among the mountains and pastures to our hot desired El Dorado, the airport of Bogotá, the starting point of this long bike travel.

Last day at work

Posted by Asa on 3 July 2009

Ever since Fin and Anna started out on their adventure I have frequently been checking their posts and comments with an ever growing wish to be out there on the road again myself. With all the freedom on the bike, the unpredicatble patternless lifestyle and the genuine basic satisfaction for the human being to get back to her roots as a nomad, immensly tempting me.
