Gold fever in la Bulla (II)

Posted by Javier on 31 October 2009

In spite of the violence and the sordid happenings in La Bulla, the work is well organized in teams where everyone has a specific task. The “law of the mine” is one of brotherhood and trust between comrades of the same team; the lives of each miner highly depend on the efficiency and collaboration of the teammates at work.

The photos represent the different phases of the process of finding gold. The penultimate (finding 2.3 grams of pure gold) was not photographed because we were excited and busy filming it. The last one, this is, selling the gold to the dealer, we preferred not to film. We did not want to trust too much in our luck and get problems with the big fishes of the camp. Our guide did not seem very inclined neither.

For information on the process please check the footnotes of each photo.
