Last day at work

Ever since Fin and Anna started out on their adventure I have frequently been checking their posts and comments with an ever growing wish to be out there on the road again myself. With all the freedom on the bike, the unpredicatble patternless lifestyle and the genuine basic satisfaction for the human being to get back to her roots as a nomad, immensly tempting me.

Not until this last day at work I managed to break out of the rigid pattern forming my own life and I think that first now I really realized deep into my inner being that this is real, it is really going to happen and it is going to happen very soon! Time is running and soon enough it is time also for us to start out on the expedition. With an almost febrile intensity and a great joy I am now making sure everything will be ready for departure the 23 of July.

My wishes for training with the bike came back after a couple of weeks of complete recession (just adding body mass and enjoying an intense resting phase as one and only preparation ;-)) I have now retaken the daily training tour of 45-60kms. Next week we take off, my bike Pinta and me, for a little test tour of 600kms. Just to make sure that we are still friends.

Anyway, I think that for a big expedition like this it is of less importance the physical preparation then the mental and intellectual one. Couple of weeks in the saddle and you will have the fitness required, combined with quite a lot of pain of course, nothing is for free. Before the trip though I´d like to acquire the maximum possible knowledge about the countries we will visit and the environmental problems that they face to keep your spirit up in tough moments and not to forget why we are doing this. Also it helps a lot to better understand what we are seeing and really to connect and understand the people that we meet.
