Pretty Peru: Casa Andina

After a grueling 18-hour-flight we finally arrived in Peru. After filming the North team in Canadian winter deserts, the balmy climate made for a warm welcome. But even in Peru there was hardly any time to rest. From filming the Minister of Environment in Lima to two fantastic projects around Cusco and a full day at Machu Picchu, we hit the road every day. Exhausting, yes, but such is the life of a dedicated film crew - work long hours and live it on a shoestring. Though sometimes there’s an exception to the rule.

 

Exclusive hotel chain Casa Andina kindly received us in their private collection hotels, which are a perfect blend of Peruvian history and modern-day vivacity. A peaceful hide-away in the middle of bustling Lima or an 18th-century colonial manor house in Cusco, each hotel has a unique local flavour. Even though it is a chain, all hotels reserve a boutique feel and uphold their own Peruvian experience. Milan, our cameraman, admitted that although he was surrounded by natural beauty on location shoots, he also looked forward to getting back to the hotel. I guess the international and extensive gourmet selection might have had something to do with it… And lucky for us we have another shoot scheduled in Peru this November.
