We pedalled like crazy from the Boeing factory the remaining 45km into Seattle to avoid rush hour, fading light, thunderstorms and lightening. The hail stones and thunder caught up with us and we were soaked through for the final three hours. Highway 99 was our best route in for bikes but it was still three lanes of traffic - pretty intense in torrential rain.

We made it to Richard's house on the south side of Seattle at about 7pm. I met Richard in the Marshalls and hadn't seen him for over year. We enjoyed a great Vietnamese meal together and a bubble tea for desert!

Gerry, the camerman at Boeing kindly offered to film us for free in Seattle the next day - this was great because he knew all the nice scenic spots and it also meant Alex and I were spared setting up the tripod and camera every time we wanted to film the bikes. Thanks Gerry!

The highlight was meeting up with Ron from Anchorage again - he arrived for a conference and we met his son Dean and lovely wife Erin for dinner. I had promised them haggis in Alaska but hadn't been able to get hold of it. Doug on Vancouver Island had come to my rescue - I cooked chicken stuffed with haggis wrapped in smokey bacon with mash potato and whiskey gravy - Doug the haggis was the best I had tasted - and it survived the trip on the bike from Vancouver Island - thanks so much!!

We had a fun time down town at Pike Place Market watching the fish throwing and flower arranging - our last night was a fab meal with Ron and family at a great Japanese place. Feeling bloated from too much food and beer, we packed up the next day for a three day ride to Portland Oregon.
