The Final 600km of Mexico

With only a few days before crossing into Guatemala, the cycle computer broke the 10,000km mark. With enoromous satisfaction as it hit 9999.9km the odometer then proceeded to return to 0. By the end of the day we had cycled a grand total of 14 km since Prudhoe Bay, Northern Alaska...awesome.

 

Temperatures are soaring into the mid 30s. I am sweating alot. Especially as my beard trimmer has broken against the pressure of my bearded overgrowth. I am starting to look like the Forest Gump of Cycling...and feeling like it.

 

These photos tell the story of the last week so won't say much here. We arrived into the border town of Tapachula today and caught our first glimpse of the 3400m volcano over the border in Guatemala in the hazy distance. It is 3400m high and Highway 1 goes right over the top of it. We decided to rest here for a day or two...
